A Plea for This Mother

After the Alabama tornados hit, there were many families left with no home, and even lost family members.  My heart broke when I heard of the Lee family, who have 13 children.  While being hit badly by a tornado, the father threw his body over some of his children to protect them and he was killed.  A few of the other children were badly injured and are in the hospital.

Will you please join with me in praying for this family, who have lost not only their home, but have lost a husband and father?

I also ask you mothers to consider giving to this mother of 13, who just lost her husband.  Instead of asking for a gift for mother's day, think of this widow and how we can help to serve her during this time.  There is a place you can donate funds to their family if you feel led to do so by clicking on the link above.

There are a few other families who have lost everything, including the Crawford family who I have met personally and admire very much. This was their home after the tornado hit.

Kelly Crawford is an inspiring mother and woman of God, and you can read about their experience here. You can also donate to the Crawfords by clicking on the same link above.

I know the Lord is working through this tragedy, and it is so encouraging to see the Body of Christ responding so faithfully.

Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed.  Take up the cause of the fatherless;  plead the case of the widow.  Isaiah 1:17

  1. Hi Claire!

I found your blog through a comment you left on mine. :) What a sweet family you have!

Thank you for sharing this post about the families affected by the recent tornadoes. I have been blessed by Kelly's writing for several years now, and she must be going through so much to have just had a newborn and then to have lost her home.

It was very strange, but I had just found the Lee's blog, maybe the day of the tragedy. I saw the photo at the top of her most recent post, of Mrs. Lee and her husband of many years, and I thought, "What a sweet couple!" When I followed a link to their blog after Mr. Lee had passed away, I couldn't believe that it was them. I just started crying and it caused me to realize how short life is...how one moment everything can be fine and you're making plans for the future, and the next minute everything changes. It's very sobering.

Anyway, I just thought I'd say hi, and thanks for posting this!

  2. Thank you for stopping to say hi Joy! What is the Lee's blog? I would love to read it as well and to see how they are handling the loss of the Father. I agree it is so sobering when you stop to realize how short life really is, and to thank the Lord for the time he gives us!

Mrs. Lee just wrote a post on Saturday about how they are doing. We will continue to pray for them, as it must be so hard to lose a beloved husband/father.

Hope you have a nice week, Claire!
